For many people, self-improvement is a privilege. This doesn’t mean you have no way to improve your life without money. Therapy, coaching, and mentorship are expensive but many other methods of self-improvement are totally free. In this article, I want to offer you several free methods of self-improvement.
I am writing this blog from my own perspective. My life has not been easy, I wanted to change, I really did, but I didn’t know how to. I couldn’t even afford books let alone coaching. I had to find other ways to start to improve my life and it needed to be free.
5 FREE WAYS TO IMPROVE YOUR LIFE
Wake up earlier
A great way to start developing self-discipline and introduce yourself in the process of developing new habits is waking up earlier. This doesn’t mean 3 hours earlier, just 30 mins earlier is good enough to start with. This will help you in more ways than just self-control. It will help you to become aware of your time and how much 30 mins can actually change your day. It will give you a small consistent daily win to start your day with a positive mood and self-confidence. These are just a couple of reasons that waking up slightly earlier will help you improve yourself.
Meditation seems difficult and the results are not easy to measure. It goes against everything we have been taught in modern society. We have to be connected, up to date, and feel and experience as much as we can. Meditation is not the act of ‘not thinking’, it’s an act of self-love. Your mind is being hijacked media companies, ads, politics, and other things demanding your constant attention. By meditating you take back control of your mind for a few minutes a day. Start small, 2 minutes a day is enough to start,
This one gets thrown around a lot and that’s because it works. Don’t overthink it, just do it. A good way to start can be writing down your values, beliefs, morals, and start to get a clear idea of the identity you desire for yourself. Now on the other page, write down what you’re actually doing day by day. How do these actions align with the identity you desire for yourself? Hack your mood
Sometimes you need a quick change of mood to get things done. There are several ways to do this. Listening to music, quick breathing exercises, a short fitness exercise can be great ways to change your mood within minutes. It doesn’t always have to be this grand change in your life, sometimes you just need a small pick-me-up to get your day going.
Joining a community is completely free and there thousands of internet groups in Discord, Reddit, or Skype that are focused on self-improvement. Find people who are in a similar phase and share your journey and also, share your value. Every story, including yours, is valuable. Go out, find the group of people that align with you, and start sharing. Don’t be a lone wolf!
